Description
Nice 20 piece set of vintage watchmakers and jewelers gravers. These are all extremely high, old quality carbon steel, which makes this set ideal for everyday usage. Carbon steel doesn’t hold the sharpest point in the world (like carbide), but it’s easier to work with, takes an edge on the hone more easily, and cuts extremely well. With carbide or some of the more modern treated high speed steels, you get a sharper edge, but at a cost, the edge is more brittle and it’s much more difficult to hone them when they do dull. Supplement this set with one or two carbide-tipped points, and you’ll have everything you need.
