Description
This is a nice vintage watchmaker or jeweler caseback opener tool and wrench for the Bulova Accutron 214 and 218. These are the genuine and very collectible wrenches that were made by the Bulova factory for use by repair facilities both in the Bulova factory itself and by authorized Bulova Accutron service centers. If you own or collect Bulova Accutrons, you know how difficult it is to find a qualified repair person or watchmaker to work on them these days. Why not save yourself some hassle and get a case wrench so that you can take a look at the movement for yourself before having to hassle with sending it out for evaluation? Don’t risk using a generic opener on your Accutrons! One slip and you can really scratch up and/or damage your valuable watch. It’s just not worth it, especially when you can do it the right way just by getting a single tool.
Two of the middle tines are missing. It’s unclear if this was intentionally modified to be compatible with a greater variety of casebacks, or if these broke off. However, given the overall sturdiness of this tool and the fact that the tines were removed so cleanly, I’d guess that it was intentional. Regardless, the four remaining tines are plenty sturdy for removing the caseback retaining rings on the old Accutrons. There’s no wobbliness or shakiness whatsoever, just smooth caseback removal. (I know this, because I just used it on one of my watches to test!) There are the usual minor scratches, but no corrosion or pitting.
This is compatible with both the 214 and 218.
